This page explains what information Black Hut Design collects through this website and what I do with it. I’m a small handmade-goods business, so I keep it simple: I collect only what I need, and I never sell it.
What I collect, and why
When you send a request through the contact form
I collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give one), the item you’re asking about, the quantity, the date you need it by, and your message. I use this only to reply to you and to make and deliver what you’ve asked for.
When you join the mailing list
I collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), and the kinds of items you’re interested in. I use this to send occasional notes about craft shows and new pieces. After you sign up I email you a link to confirm, and you are not added to the list until you click it. If you signed up on a sheet at a craft show, you get the same confirmation email first.
Craft show maps
When you open “Details & map” for a craft show, the map is loaded from Google Maps. That means Google receives your IP address and basic browser information, and Google’s own privacy policy applies. Nothing is loaded from Google until you open that pop-up. If you choose “Get directions”, Google Maps opens in a new tab.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the server this site runs on keeps ordinary technical logs (such as your IP address, the pages requested, your browser type, and the date and time) to keep the site secure and working. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and I do not run analytics on it.
Who sees your information
I do not sell or rent your information. It is stored on this site’s web host. Email I send to you, and replies to your requests, are delivered through an email service. I share information only with the companies that help me run the website and send email, or when the law requires it.
How long I keep it
Order requests are kept for as long as they are useful to complete your order and for my business records, and then deleted. Mailing list details are kept until you ask to be removed.
Your choices
You can ask me at any time to show you the information I have about you, correct it, delete it, or remove you from the mailing list. Every email I send to the mailing list includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask through the contact page. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state’s privacy laws, and I will honor them.
Security
I take reasonable steps to protect what you send, but no website or email system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children
This website is not meant for children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle information, I will update this page and the date at the top.
